The MKT Trail follows 7th Street from Shepherd to Heights Blvd, then bends diagonally between Cortlandt and Sawyer Heights near Target. It continues along Spring Street before reconnecting to White Oak Bayou after the Hogan Bridge.

The Heights MKT Trail is a 4.5-mile rail-trail that follows a former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) railroad corridor through the heart of the Heights. Opened in 2010, the trail provides a continuous, off-street path for walking, running, and biking, connecting neighborhoods, parks, and major greenway systems.

The trail runs roughly east–west, beginning near TC Jester and extending toward the White Oak Bayou Greenway near the Hogan Bridge. Along the way, it passes through some of the Heights’ most active and family-friendly areas.
