In 2022, families and neighbors in Montrose worked together to identify 64 improvements to make walking and biking safer for children traveling to school.

The latest TIRZ plan, released September 15, includes only 5 of those improvements. While new sidewalks are part of the update, key safety features like all-way stops and crosswalks have been removed.

To truly connect schools and neighborhoods, we need to restore:

  • All-way stops at Clay & Crocker, Stanford & Peden, Stanford & Bomar
  • The 16 crosswalks identified by the community

Comments are due September 29. Let City Council, Houston Public Works, and the Mayor’s Office know that safe routes should reflect the community’s priorities.
