Across Houston, a quiet shift is happening. As streets are redesigned and parking is reduced, some businesses are choosing to use that space differently—not as a loss, but as an opportunity.
We’re starting to document and support these transitions.
Through this initiative, A Tale of Two Bridges highlights businesses that have already converted parking into patios, greenery, or small public-facing spaces. These projects aren’t theoretical—they’re built, used, and shaping how people experience the street.
We’re working alongside places like Polanquito and Alma Latina as they navigate permitting, design, and construction, with the goal of making these transformations easier to replicate.
Instead of focusing on what’s gone, this is about showing what’s possible—and helping more businesses get there.
