We are partnering with the Mountain Church (formerly known as Mount Sinai) to fix a gap in a Sidewalk between Lawrence Park and the Houston Heights Daycare and Learning Center.

We are fundraising $2,400 to fix a sidewalk in our community

The proposed scope of work:

  • Cut out tree roots
  • Haul off debris
  • Replace approximately 48 ft of the sidewalk using #3 rebar, 3000 psi concrete mix 4″ thick

Total cost of labor and materials $ 2,400.00

Current sidewalk conditions force pedestrians with strollers or other mobility devices to go on the road.
Location of the sidewalk along Lawrence St between W 7th 1/2 St and W 8th St

Frequently Asked Questions

Isn’t it the responsiblity of the city to fix the sidewalk?

In the city of Houston, repair and maintenance of sidewalks are the sole responsibiliy of the property owner. This is one of the reasons for the poor condition of our sidewalks in the city.

Is the property owner going to contribute to the repair?

The Houston Heights Daycare and Learning Center leases a space from the Mountain Church. The Church leadership has generously contributed half of the cost ($1,200) of this work and is coordinating the work with the contractor.

Who is coming together to fix this sidewalk?

Many parents from the daycare have previously expressed concern about the condition of the sidewalk throughout the past couple of years to our organization. Due to the number of detours, the urgency of repair is more evident now than ever before. This effort is being cooridnated by A Tale of Two Bridges, Friends of Lawrence and Milroy Parks, The Mountain Church, and the Houston Heights Daycare and Learning Center.
