Four-Way Stop Requests: W 8th, W 9th & W 10th at Nicholson

We’re continuing to push for safer crossings along Nicholson at:

  • W 8th & Nicholson
  • W 9th & Nicholson
  • W 10th & Nicholson

Timeline of Advocacy

  • Dec 2021 – Repeated requests from neighbors began.
  • 2022–2025 – Submitted hundreds of photos showing daily trail activity.
  • Sep 2025 – Resubmitted requests to the City of Houston for review (Request Nos. 2500349150, 2500349139, 2500349133).

Past Traffic Studies
Previous studies were conducted during times when the trail was undercounted — often mid-day when families, commuters, and evening walkers weren’t present.

Best Times to Evaluate Trail Use

  • Early mornings (weekday rush hours).
  • Weekday evenings.
  • Wednesday evenings in particular show especially high usage.

The Nicholson Trail is one of the most active corridors in the Heights, with people walking, running, biking, and pushing strollers at all hours. Four-way stops at these intersections are critical for safety.
